Future Doctors of America Club Holding their First Book Drive

By Rebecca Sands, Staff Writer

This year, The Future Doctors of America Club is collecting books for the organization  Reach Out and Read. They are looking for students and staff to donate new and gently used books to benefit the less fortunate. Co- presidents Nicki Jariwala and Ellie McNeal, and the officers of the club, Veronica Holganza, Anjani Solanky, Hima Tallam, and Divya Yagnamurthy have put together the club’s first ever book drive.

The books are going to be donated to doctor’s offices where they will be distributed to patients who cannot afford books for their children or themselves. So far, the club has collected over 150 books and will continue to collect books until the end of December. “It is a great feeling to be able to help others in need in a fun and educational way,” said McNeal.

Everyone is encouraged to donate books this holiday season. The drop off box is located in the media center by the front desk. If anyone is interested in learning more about The Future Doctors of America Club or have any questions regarding the book drive, they can contact any of the officers listed above. This book drive has been very successful and the club hopes to continue it in future years.
