Due to the recent surge in Coronavirus cases, William Paterson University has opened as a site for Passaic County residents to test for the new COVID-19 virus.

The new site opens after overwhelming amounts of New Jersey residents rushed and inundated other testing locations, such as at Bergen Community College and the PNC Bank Arts Center.

The William Paterson location is run by volunteers and arranged as a series of drive-thru stations. When a new vehicle pulls up, one volunteer collects a referral while another takes temperature, then the nasal swab test is administered.

The process only takes about 3 minutes, but, in order to be tested, individuals must show symptoms and be referred by a doctor. Test results are released about 4-6 days after testing.

As the virus spreads, William Paterson now joins Bergen Community College and the PNC Bank Arts Center, all flooded with vehicles in a line that seems never-ending.

In certain cases, testing centers reached their daily capacity of tests, meaning they had to turn away those who were waiting, oftentimes closing before they even opened due to extremely long lines.

This the following weeks, the William Paterson testing location will be closed for a number of days.

In a recent update, according to the Passaic County Sheriff, Richard Berdnik, the site will be closed on April 10th, April 12th, and April 15th.

It will remain open for April 11th, April 13th, April 14th, April 16th, and April 17th.
