By Zach Miller

It was a big night for Wayne hills football. The Patriots were up against a fierce foe, the undefeated Wayne valley Indians. This was a night that could not be missed. The stands were filled with Wayne valley and Wayne hills fans as well as a lot of media were their to record the game. It was one of the most intense nights in Wayne football history. There were many things that made both teams nervous and pumped up, such as the big north colonial division championship title and trophy, glory over one team, and having the title of the team that runs this town (Wayne).

The Patriots had a slow start in the beginning. Early in the second quarter the Indians led by 18 points with the patriots at zero. Then the patriots started playing harder and caught up to valley with 14 points. The second quarter ended with the patriots at 14 points and the Indians at 18 points. During the third quarter the Patriots scored catching up 21 points. This was when the game got extreme with relentless brute force from both sides. it was all up to the defense for both teams to keep the offense away from the end of the field.

Until the near end of the 4th quarter where Both teams went back and forth from one 40 yard line to the other, the Indians decide to bring out their kicker for a field goal. The stands were silent it was all on the kicker to bring the game into overtime. The ball was on the 40 and the players from both sides were ready to do whatever it takes to win the game. The holder says hike the ball is snapped, the linemen are holding off this wave of Patriots, the ball is kicked, the result was no good. The score remained the same. During the very near end of the game the patriots had a chance to score. The quarterback Brendan DeVera passes the ball to tight end Joe Kenny. Joe Kenny then jumps for the ball and catches it landing in the corner of the end zone. It was a touchdown for the patriots, and then they go for a 2 point conversion. DeVera gives the ball to Running back Luca Grave. The 2 point conversion was good and the game score ended with Patriots 28 Indians 18. The patriots all jump for joy on the sideline cracking helmets and cheering for the Hills victory. Hills football Coach Demikoff receives the big north colonial division championship trophy. But he doesn’t touch it and no one else on the football team touches the trophy, the team doesn’t touch it for good luck and to win the finals. Wayne hills center lineman Sal Abbracciatmento had this to say about the victory ““I feel that the victory over Valley really exemplified the family-like atmosphere surrounding our team. Everyone played their hearts out for their brothers standing next to them. No matter the adversity we face, we now know we have the ability to come together and conquer anything.” the Hills football team returned home happy and joyful that they brought another victory home for their school.
