The 60th Annual Grammy Awards are almost here, and this year it is going to be extravagant!

The Grammy Awards are taking place on Sunday, January 28th at 7:30 in Madison Square Garden, NYC. James Corden returns once more to host the award show for his second year in a row. The  ceremony covers 84 music categories including R&B Soul, Pop, Dance/Electronic, Rap, etc. The show has a whole lineup of artists that will preform at the ceremony. Some of these artists include Cardi B, SZA, Lady Gaga, Sam Smith, Elton John, and many more.

Out of the 84 categories that are awarded throughout the show, here are some of the most favored artists that will be up for nomination quite often. For R&B, The Weekend by SZA. For Pop, Praying by Ke$ha. For Rap, Bodak Yellow by Cardi B. There are a variety of artists nominated for each genre and category. I spoke with a few of my fellow peers to see what their thoughts were on the nominees for certain genres. Olivia Cox, junior at WHHS enthusiastically claims, “SZA for the win, baby. She will be killing out on that stage.” Gio Leotsakas, an avid rap fan and 12th grader at WHHS also states, “Lil Uzi Vert deserves to win. He has made it so far this year with regards to his new music and his new album.”

Each person has their own opinion on which nominee should win the Grammy Award for each corresponding genre and category. However, there is only one way to know if one’s favorite artist will receive a Grammy:  tune into the 60th Annual Grammy Awards Ceremony on January 28th.
