As fall 2024 rolls in, the fall athletes of Wayne Hills High School are preparing for their upcoming season. Students who are beginning their first or last season ever are striving for success in order to have an exceptional time with their teams. The cheer and football team recently got back from Nevada and came home with a win!
Sophomore, Skyler Reinoso, explains her love for cheerleading, “I love cheer because of all the new people I met and my favorite part about it is definitely going on the trips. This year we went to Nevada for an out-of-state game and cheered for our football team and we also went to cheer camp and had a lot of fun there.” Summer cheer practices can be rough, but the girls pushed through those tough August mornings and 4 days at cheer camp in order to have a less stressful fall season.
Addie Ickowski, a senior on the varsity cheer team is using her positive attitude in hopes to kick off the season in a great way, “The season is going good. I’d say a lot of girls on the team have a good connection because we are all friends. We are all just excited for all the football games and senior night. Both the games went really well. Even though the players lost the second game, it was an intense game and I have confidence in them.”
Sophomore, Emma Hablitz talks about how much fun it is to be on the soccer team. “I play soccer which is a fall sport, and I have practice every single day besides Sundays. Usually we have games, I have a game tomorrow and we have games every 2 days. The practices are fun, we do a lot of work, we run a lot, and we do lots of ball work. It’s overall fun, and we listen to music too.”
While soccer sounds like a vigorous daily workout, she explains that it can still be a lot of fun during games and practices.
The girls who participate in gymnastics here at Wayne Hills share special friendships and work together to perform the best they can. Junior Karina Bhargava describes the special bond that she and her friends have, “I really like gymnastics because I have a great team. I’ve made a lot of memories with gymnastics. Our team really gets together and bonds and we are able to have a great time at meets.”
The student-athletes at Wayne Hills are not the only ones dedicated to sports, the 12th Patriot student section helps the teams greatly by showing their support each week.
