The Bowling County Tournament was an exciting event for both the boys’ and girls’ teams, as they both delivered impressive performances despite facing tough competition and challenges early on. Their results exceeded everyone’s expectations, and both teams have a lot to be proud of.
Boys Team’s Performance
The Boys Team had a slow start in the early matches but quickly gained momentum, showing significant improvement and playing more consistently over time. Coach Basilicato noted that the team’s improvement throughout the event was key to their success, leading to an unexpected second-place finish.
“We started off slow, but we really came on strong and played well as a team,” Coach Basilicato said. “It was a big surprise to finish second, but it shows how much they’ve come together.”
A standout moment for the boys was Myles Berkowitz’s individual victory as the Passaic County Individual Champion.
“Myles really stepped up and showed his ability,” Coach Basilicato added. “He had an incredible performance, and I’m so proud of him.”
Girls Team’s Performance
The Girls Bowling Team, despite being relatively inexperienced at the varsity level, also impressed us with their performance at the tournament. Coach Rehberger highlighted the team’s achievements, especially considering that many of the bowlers were new to competitive bowling.
“For a team with little experience, the girls really came through and performed well,” Coach Rehberger said. “Several of them bowled above their averages and achieved their highest series of the season.”
The team’s top bowlers—Rishika Mussani, Duru Cosgun, and Leydi Zelaya—each had their best series of the year, demonstrating growth and focus under pressure.
“I’m proud of how all the girls handled the tournament, especially in such a big, competitive event,” Coach Rehberger said. “Rishika, Duru, and Leydi delivered great performances, and the entire team showed significant improvement with each game.”
The girls finished in fourth place, an impressive result given that four of the six bowlers competing had no prior competitive experience.
“I was especially proud of the way our girls improved with every game they bowled at the tournament,” Coach Rehberger said. “It really highlights their heart and focus.”
Looking Ahead
Both teams showed strong growth and determination throughout the Bowling County Tournament. The boys’ team held strong throughout the entirety of their performance, and the girls’ team showed steady improvement as the tournament went on.
With this newfound confidence and encouragement, both teams are set to build on their success in upcoming events as they work harder than ever.
