The County government serves as the middle layer government between the County and State governments. It is a seven-member board of commissioners. Each County Commissioner is elected for a three-year term. County Commissioners discharge both executive and legislative responsibilities.
Bruce James was first elected to become on the Board of County Commissioners back in November of 2005. He has been a resident of Clifton for over 30 years. He attended William Paterson University which is located in Wayne and majored in Philosophy and Political Science.
On the Passaic County New Jersey Website it states, “Bruce James, states, that County Commissioner James understands the needs of Passaic County residents. He has served as the longtime President of his labor organization, where he was able to balance out the needs of the employees with a conservative eye on the needs of taxpayers of the county.”
James says he recognizes the importance and is a strong advocate for stable taxes, maintaining bridges and roads, preserving open space, and providing quality education for children and teens. Other important areas for him include providing continued services for seniors, veterans, and those with special needs.
Orlando Cruz serves on committees Such as Health & Human Services, and Law & Public Safety
Cruz grew up in the city of Paterson, and began a career as a professional DJ, DJing all over the tri-state area. He worked his way up the rankings and began working for one of the largest entertainment companies in the Northeast.

Wayne Hills High School students and staff understand what a big decision voting for county commissioners is.
Most people when it comes to voting pick to vote Democrat or Republican, but student Ryan Westerberg states, “I do not care who wins because I agree with the morals of the Democrat side but I support the worth ethic for the Republicans.”
