The Juice is Loose

After nine years of prison time for charges including conspiracy to commit a crime, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, conspiracy to commit robbery, burglary while in possession of a deadly weapon, first degree kidnapping with use of a deadly weapon, robbery with use of a deadly weapon, and assault with a deadly weapon, Orenthal James Simpson is free from jail.
On October 3, 2008, exactly 13 years after Simpson was acquitted of the double homicide of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, he was sentenced nine to 33 years of jail time for a robbery attempt to get his possessions back after they were auctioned off years earlier. Judge Jackie Glass was in charge of the robbery case and unofficially extended his sentence time due to him “getting off” for the murders. Senior Sam Reyzelman has an interesting take on O.J.’s release regardless of what happened in 1993: “O.J.’s release from jail is a monumental day for America, as one of the most infamous people in Sports History can now walk freely. If the glove don’t fit you must acquit.”
Awaiting release, Simpson initially intended to move down to Florida where his kids are currently living in order to spend time with them. Unfortunately for him and his kids, Florida does not want him living in their state due to his celebrity status and criminal record. Since his release from Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada, Simpson has resided in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The news of Sunday night’s mass shooting at the Route 91 Concert Festival with 59 dead and over 500 injured resulted in the attraction of many reporters. Coincidentally, many reporters and journalists from news stations nationwide were already stationed in Nevada to document the release of Simpson. Merely 22 hours after Simpson was released, the mass shooting on Las Vegas Boulevard happened. Fortunately for the news stations and Simpson, the news stations already had people in Vegas and for Simpson, all of the publicity that was once on him had turned to coverage of the shooting.
As Simpson’s release occurred, the family and lawyers of Ron Goldman got to work since Simpson is now a free man. David Cook, the attorney who has been working for the Goldman family, is Simpson’s worst nightmare. In 1997, Cook won a civil case in which the Goldman family was awarded a multi-million dollar jury verdict. Simpson has gone from a prisoner, to a free man, and soon, he will be a man who owes $33.5 million to a singular family. If you thought that was a lot, over the past 20 years since the verdict was announced, Simpson now owes over $70 million to the Goldman family due to interest.
