Shots fired at the Capitol Building

A woman was apprehended on March 29, 2017, after shots were fired at the Capitol building. Police observed “erratic and aggressive” driving around the area of 100 Independence Ave, and connected the shooting with a vehicle that nearly hit several officers in an attempt at a U-turn. Taleah Everett, who is only 20 years old and a resident of Washington D.C, became “frustrated with slow-moving traffic”, which signaled the beginning of her rampage. She then proceeded to drive westbound of Capitol Hill in an attempt to escape the scene. “During the attempt of arrest, shots were fired when the suspect proceeded to exit the vehicle and flee on foot, but no one was hit or hurt” said Eva Malecki, the communications director for the Capitol Police during a press release. “Road rage is real thing, you know. We always just dismiss it, but it can lead people to do crazy and violent things.” says sophomore, Nieve Petrie. “It’s scary”, says junior, Eric Miller, “The people out that day weren’t doing anything wrong but could’ve been at the scene of something that could’ve been fatal had it not been handled as smoothly as it was.”
