Boys Lacrosse Trip To Philadelphia

By Anna Badami and Nicole Joachim

The Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team grew closer after traveling to Philadelphia.

The Boys lacrosse team went on a three-day pre-season bonding trip to Philadelphia. While on their trip, they scrimmaged local teams from Philly and a New York state team. While on the trip the boys gained historical insight about the United States.  They began by visiting the Eastern State Penitentiary and Independence Hall to see the Liberty Bell. The Eastern State Penitentiary offered tours, where the boys got to walk around a nonfunctional prison.

Not only did the group of 30 varsity players learn about the history of the US  in Philadelphia, but the importance of working together on and off the field. The coaches went to this location in hope to get the team away from Wayne and expose them to a new atmosphere. They also traveled down south to get away from the snow and into a more sun-filled environment where they could scrimmage.

“It’s hopeful that it will create a bond throughout the season,” says Mark Jacobson, coach of the lacrosse team. “ The purpose was to get away from distractions like schools and family and just focus on lacrosse and being with each other for a couple days.”

Hopefully, the trip improved their athletic performance and taught them lessons they could apply on the field. We look forward to a great season!

” The trip was a lot of fun, and I definitely feel like the concepts we learned in Philly will be reflected in our games this season,” says varsity player Justin Kalabota.
