Golf Team Preview
February 27, 2017
The Wayne Hills Golf will begin practicing at Golf 23 in less than two weeks in preparation for the season ahead.
Mark DuBois, who has been the coach of the team, has been in his position for the past three years. was In 2015 as well as in 2016, DuBois was named the Passaic County Coach of the Year, and has led his team to success. Last year’s team had a record of 22-4, won the Passaic County Tournament, and won the Big North league championship. They also came very close to making the State Playoffs, which would have been for the first time ever.
“We have exploded in the past three years. Going from 24 to almost 40 players. I’m happy to see how much our program has grown,” said DuBois.
Looking to defend these titles, the Patriots will depend on strong performances from senior captains Robert Sabatino, Paige Liebchen, and Rachel Lombardi. They will also rely on top scorers Robert McHugh, Cassandra Lee, and James Bradley.
Hills plays their home matches at the Passaic County course in Wayne. Matches consist of 9 holes against one, two, or sometimes three other schools. Each team plays six golfers, and the four best scores get added up to form the team’s final score. The team with the lowest four-golfer total wins the match.
DuBois also added, “Our team is reloading not rebuilding. Many of our underclassmen are varsity ready, so I see this team with a positive present and future.”
The season will start on April 3 against Don Bosco. They are looking to have another successful season, racking up more wins and championships along the way.
