Ice Hockey Update

By Seth Friedman and Sam Vaught

The Ice Hockey season has officially begun and the team has started with a record of 3-3-1.

This year’s seniors are Billy Tulpan, Captain Daniel Mirman,  Assistant Captain Lawrence Kruglyak, and Coleman Brennan.  Mirman is currently leading the team in goals, Assistant Captain Dean Hulbert leads the team in assists, and freshman Dan Riina has made a remarkable 122 saves on 152 shots.

The team defeated Paramus Catholic recently in an impressive 2-1 victory. Eric Kruglyak and Tyler Mirman scored short-handed goals six seconds apart to lead the team to their third win of the season. Goalie, Riina made 22 saves on 23 shots for the Patriots.

The team outlook on the season is positive. Many people believed that the team would not be successful due to lack of experience, however,  they have gotten off to a good start, currently positioning themselves for the State Playoffs.

“We are a young team with a lot of inexperience, but our younger players have been stepping up big time,” Lawrence Kruglyak. ” We’ve proved a lot of people wrong and we need to keep playing well,” he adds.

The next game will be on Wednesday, December 28th against Mount Olive at Ice Vault. Make sure you’ll be there to support our favorite hockey team!
