The high school wrestling season is coming up and the WHHS team is getting ready for another successful season. There are many expectations and goals the team hopes to meet. The team is going into their upcoming matches with confidence, considering their impressive 11-2 team record from last season.

During the off season, the team does many activities including fundraisers in order to instill the value of teamwork into each other. WHHS junior and a key member of the wrestling team, Phil Mimmo, explains, “Last month, we went in front of Stop and Shop and Sunrise Bagels to raise money for our uniforms, equipment, and also for the tournaments we will be hosting. We had a great outcome, raising more than we expected and it really got everyone excited for the season.” The team bonding in this activity will go a long way for their matches throughout the season. This confidence and chemistry is an encouraging sign for a team with many newcomers.

The first tournament of the year will be held at Lakeland High School on December 17th. The WHHS wrestling won the entire Lakeland tournament last year. This year, they look to repeat the feat and win the tournament yet again.
