2-0 Cowboys Lose Quarterback
October 14, 2015
The Dallas Cowboys may have won their first two games without Wide Receiver Dez Bryant, but how will they fare without their Quarterback Tony Romo? Romo has been playing well following his best season so far last year, but in last Sunday’s game against the Eagles he was fallen on by Jordan Hicks and his left collarbone was broken. This injury could keep him sidelined for at least seven games in a short 16-game season (not including playoffs). “The Tony Romo injury raises some concern for Dallas. Now they have to rely on Brandon Weeden, from Oklahoma State to run the helm. The coaches, players and the front office all have confidence in Weeden to get the team to where it needs to be. Dallas went from having Romo, Demarco Murray, and Dez Bryant just a season ago to now having Terrence Williams, Brandon Weeden, and Joseph Randle to run the offense. It will be interesting to see how Dallas overcomes the adversity,” said Junior Marco Caprioni. Losing your 10-year starting quarterback is one of the biggest losses a team can face, not to mention coming along with the loss of an all star wide receiver in Bryant.
After Romo went down last week the Cowboys searched for a quarterback in case Weeden didn’t work out. In this search they found Matt Cassel from the Bills. It is believed that Weeden will start on Sunday against the Falcons and Cassel will be used in case Weeden has a rough game or worst case scenario gets injured. Weeden understands the Cowboys offense better than Cassel, however Cassel has more experience in the NFL than 31-year old Weeden. Although only three years of age difference Cassel has 11-seasons in the league compared to Weeden’s four. It will be interesting who the Cowboys put their trust in for the remainder of Romo’s absence.
