First Place Win Makes SADD Club Happy

WHHS’s Students Against Destructive Decisions club received recognition for their campaign “Behind the Picket Fence” at the county-wide teen summit Wednesday.

SADD received first place and five hundred dollars for their video presenting the campaign. The video highlighted clips of the campaign, which was presented to WHHS students earlier in the year during an assembly.

The video presented the “Every 15 Seconds” campaign, with students sporting white faces to represent deaths due to ‘destructive decisions.’ The students also had reasons for their deaths written on tags, since they could not speak.

Due to their first place win, the SADD club’s poster will be presented on county buses and at Willowbrook mall.

After putting in much work to the campaign, members of the club are ecstatic that their hard work has paid off. “I love being a part of SADD, since it gives students a positive outlet for making safe and smart decisions. It is also incredibly rewarding to see our campaign take off as it has, and now that we have won, I can’t wait to spread our message more,” says Vice President Karl Reidel.
