As we progress farther into the month of May, new and exciting novels are appearing on the top charts and bestseller lists, ranging from young adult science fiction to romantic comedies, all for your enjoyment. The list provided below shows just 6 of the many literary productions sparking the attention of readers worldwide, shown in no certain order.

Moving in a slightly more dark direction, author Steve Cavanagh spills out a gripping story of crime in his debut novel, The Defense. On the other hand, The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper by Phaedra Patrick reveals an eccentric plot about an old man’s journey that may leave readers as victims of joyous laughter and incredibly warmed hearts. Although the two books are extremely different, they both made it on the Best Books of May list.

This nonfiction crime novel provides a glimpse into the life of a forensic pathologist, DiMaio, who has grown famous for his autopsy of Trayvon Martin and exhumation of Lee Harvey Oswald, and continues to share his stories of intense cases and revelations. The book spans an entire 40 years of work and more than approximately 9,000 autopsies that define DiMaio and allow him to dissect himself, with the help of writer Ron Franscell.
