Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2016 Inductions

The 31st Rock and Roll Hall of Fame recently inducted six new artists into the Cleveland, Ohio based music history museum. Cheap Trick, Chicago, Deep Purple, Steve Miller, N.W.A and Bert Berns  were all inducted at a ceremony in Brooklyn, New York on April 8, 2016.

The night also honored the late David Bowie and Glenn Frey and featured musicians such as Lars Ulrich, Kid Rock and Kendrick Lamar to induct the six new artists.”I feel like they should have been inducted in a long time ago.” said Deep Purple fan and Freshman Ryan Mamedov.

Although most had a good time, many people are angry at the way the Rock Hall went about business. Many people love to see who gets inducted each year, but this year many others are a little upset that N.W.A, a hip hop group, were inducted. “I am looking forward to the death of rap,” stated KISS’ Gene Simmons.

“What connects us all is that spirit — that’s what connects us all is that spirit. Rock ‘n’ roll is not conforming to the people who came before you, but creating your own path in music and life. That is rock ‘n’ roll and that is us. Rock ‘n’ roll is not conforming, rock ‘n’ roll is outside the box and rock ‘n’ roll is N.W.A.” stated N.W.A’s Ice Cube in response to Simmons statement.

“I don’t like their music but if N.W.A deserves to be inducted, they should be inducted.” said Mamedov again. Many people, such as Mamedov, agree with with this mind set that Ice Cube has expressed and agree that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a place that should celebrate the accomplishments of music as a whole.
