Ncaa Tournament: Who are The Favorites?
March 17, 2016
It has finally arrived. After a long winter, College Basketball fans’ favorite month has come. The NCAA tournament has begun, with brackets surely to be busted, tears surely to be shed, and prayers surely to be sent.
The Favorites
- UNC- The Tar Heels, led by senior guard Marcus Paige and star forward Bryce Johnson, ended their season with a bang by winning the ACC and its tournament. They say the national championship is a momentum game, and who has more momentum than UNC right now?
- Kansas- Entering the field with the number 1 overall seed in the country, Kansas is the favorite, and rightly so. Led by senior Perry Ellis, if any team is a sure thing to make a run in this tournament, it is definitely Kansas.
- Oregon- Oregon is probably the deepest team in the field. With 7 players that could start on any team in the country, they will be hard to beat. My only concern: who to the Ducks go to with the game on the line?
- Virginia- UVA’s Malcolm Borgdon is one of the most feared players in college basketball, and rightly so. After disappointing displays in the tournament in recent years, we can expect Virginia to be extra focused this time around, and if their 3-pointers start to fall, they are almost impossible to stop.
Maros Ademec, college basketball fanatic, thinks Kansas will win. His reasoning? Simple. :
“Kansas has more wins vs the top 50 teams in the nation than anyone else. To win the tournament, you need to be able to beat the best teams, and Kansas can do that.”
Hard to argue with that logic, but in the tournament, you really never know.
