Spring Sports Are Back
March 10, 2016
The time has finally come, a time that all spring athletes have been anxiously awaiting; the first day of the season! March 4th had been the official start to preseason training, and the athletes couldn’t have been more excited to finally get back into the swing of things. The snow doesn’t stop anyone from getting back out there to practice; boys and girls lacrosse were on the field all bundled up, while baseball and softball turned the gym into their very own batting cage.
Boys volleyball tied up the net and is ready to go, and boys as well as girls track & field are already out there training! Boys tennis was also on the court and set to start.
Girls Lacrosse is expected to be one of the most successful spring sports teams this year, and the team is ready to get underway,“We’ve been patiently waiting for this since the very end of the season last year. I’m excited to get back out there with my team!” said senior girls lacrosse captain, Kristen Russo.
Not only are the athletes excited, but the coaches surely are ready to get the season started as well. Both girls lacrosse and softball welcome new head coaches into their sports families. Coach Cassera (lacrosse) and Coach Caruso (softball) are eager to begin working with their new teams. “I’m excited to be coaching a new team this year,” said Coach Caruso of the girls’ varsity softball team. The week known amongst all athletes as “hell week” has gotten everyone into a serious mindset with the competitive edge to win!
