14 Family Members Killed
March 8, 2016
An Indian man killed 14 people in Thane on the outskirts of Mumbai on Monday February 29th, 2016. The victims were all part of his family; including his wife and kids.
Husnain Anwar Warekar, 35, put sedatives in his relatives’ food before slashing their throats with a big knife, according to Gajanan Kabdule, a police spokesman in the western Indian city of Thane. His family members were sleeping in their beds when he started killing them. The poor family members were all there for an upcoming event, but only one survived the attack. His wife was 28-years-old, and his two daughters were between the ages of three months and six years old. He also killed his parents, ages 55 and 65 along with his three sisters between ages 28 and 34. His six nieces and nephews were also killed in the attack. By the time the survivor called for help, Warekar had already hung himself. It is rumored that this was all due to to a property dispute within the family but the motive has not been confirmed yet. The sister is currently in the hospital, but still very traumatized and not speaking very much. This massacre has been one of the worst, and most gory India has seen in years. “I cannot fathom why anyone would ever do this to their own family, especially innocent children. Some of the children were even his own kids. That is disgusting. As a future nurse I can only imagine the stories I’ll be told while working at a hospital,” said Wayne Hills senior Heather Clapp, “I hope I never hear anything as bad as this.”
