Wayne Hills Varsity Basketball
February 25, 2016
The Wayne Hills Varsity basketball team has opened up a lot of eyes throughout the past couple of weeks. This 2015-2016 team is the best basketball team to ever come through Wayne Hills. Lead by Coach Kevin Grimes, the team has reached their goal by attaining the best school record continuing at 22-4. “It feels incredible and I am so lucky to play alongside some great teammates,” mentioned Wayne Hills senior Jason Cote.
The Patriots have accomplished a lot this season. Not only are they the winningest basketball team in school history, but they are also making a long run in the state tournament. Senior point guard Dorian Hodge reached his 1000th point last week during the Patriots victory over Bergen Tech. Unfortunately, Hodge suffered a broken nose early in the first round of the state tournament against Sparta. Despite the injury, Hodge returned in two days for the quarter final game against River Dell and scored 27 points! Hodge will finish his extraordinary season playing with a protective mask around his face.
The Patriots are still alive in the state tournament. Trying to make a trip to the chip the Patriots are facing Ramapo this Friday night for the State Semi-Final game at 7:00. Moving forward, Coach Grimes and the team are willing to go further into the state tournament.
