
This story is about how digital cameras are coming back and are becoming popular again.
Digital cameras have come a long way. The first digital camera was invented in December, 1975 at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, N.Y., the first digital camera displayed photos on its screen. The Kodak digital camera has been commemorated as an IEEE Milestone. Steven J. Sasson invented digital cameras. The first digital camera was the size of a toaster and weighed almost nine pounds. As technology advanced, digital cameras became smaller, faster, and able to produce higher quality images. Digital cameras last anywhere from 3 to 5 years with regular use. Digital cameras are coming back and are popular in 2025. I have seen trends from the 90’s and 2000’s come and go, just like the digital cameras. In the 2010’s. We swapped digital cameras for Polaroid cameras. But now in 2025, we went back to the vintage looking digital cameras.
We asked some students at Wayne Hills High School about what they think about digital cameras.
A freshman, Melania DeMayo said, “I enjoy taking pictures on my digital camera because it helps me document the moment. I enjoy taking pictures on my digital camera more than my phone.”
A freshman Layah Colabelli said, ” I really like my digital camera. I think it’s a great way to capture memeriores in a more fun and different way than on your phone.”
Most people like taking pictures on their digital camera rather than on their phone. Digital cameras have changed throughout time and we can’t wait to see what digital cameras have for us in the future. What do you think about digital cameras coming back?
