As we enter 2025, Swifties are awaiting Taylor Swift to complete the re-recording process of her first six albums. She has finished four albums in the last four years, and the last two are on the cusp of returning to Taylor’s discography. Since the Era’s Tour started, Swifties had created a tradition called “Clowning.” Clowning is an activity the Swifties participate in when there is a chance that Taylor Swift will announce a new album or a new re-recording.
This started during the Era’s Tour when Taylor announced and released Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and 1989 (Taylor’s Version). Taylor had easter eggs, which are clues that lead up to the announcement date. On August 9th, 2023, Taylor Swift wore a blue outfit to hint to the crowd that something blue was coming. Since 1989’s album color is blue, the fans knew that that night Taylor was going to announce 1989. Since then, every little move Taylor does is counted as an easter egg. Swifties take those easter eggs and closely decode the hint to make a theory to clown over.

Since the beginning of 2024, the Swifties had adapted to becoming “clowns” for Taylor’s album Reputation. Being a clown means that you believe a certain theory about Taylor and fully support the idea of it happening. Many theories have not even come close to being true. To make up for the theories being wrong they are called “‘clowning theories.”

Swifties are clowning right now for Reputation (Taylor’s Version) to be announced at the 2025 Iheartradio Music Awards on March 17th, 2025. The reasoning behind this is because every time Taylor wins a milestone award, she gives the fans something as a thank you. At the 2024 Grammys, she broke the record for the most times an artist had won album of the year. She thanked the fans by announcing her new album The Tortured Poets Department. At this award show, Taylor is the recipient for “Tour of The Century”. This is a big deal because she is going to be given this award on the exact day the Era’s Tour started: March 17th. This raised suspicion to Swifties when the dates were released to the public.
We won’t know until March, but until then all of the Swifties will get their clown noses on until the awards!
