2024 is ending and we are looking back on the top TV shows of this year. The TV industry has overtaken the movie industry for people around the world.
Teens aged 13 to 18 years spend about 3 hours and 16 minutes watching TV daily in the United States according to a study done by Statistia. The average US adult spends about 2 hours and 55 minutes watching TV according to Oberlo. Netflix is the most used streaming service in the US by far.
The top three TV shows of this year are “Industry” on MAX, “ Say Nothing” on FX, and “Baby Reindeer” on Netflix. Some Wayne Hills students were shocked to hear that the show “Industry” was number one. A lot of teens have watched shows like Abbott Elementary and Outer Banks.
We asked some students what their most watched shows were, and they had a lot of opinions.
Freshman, Tatiana Williamson, says, “Personally, I love Outer Banks. I have binge-watched all four seasons and I am excited for the fifth one.” Many teens have watched Outer Banks and are surprised it isn’t the number one show.
Freshman, Kyleigh Figueroa, said, “My most watched TV show was probably Peppa Pig. I’m being so serious.” Sometimes watching TV seems like a chore so you need to put on a show that requires less attention. It can make watching more enjoyable when your attention isn’t all there.
60% of teenagers between ages 13 and 17 reportedly binge-watched a TV show this year. When a show is so good, it’s hard to stop watching. Although everyone likes different TV shows, some are too good not to watch.
