It’s that time of year again! As Early Action (EA) and Early Decision (ED) letters start rolling in, Wayne Hills seniors are feeling a mix of both excitement and nervousness.
For most colleges, the EA and ED application deadlines fall between November 1st and November 15th. Although EA and ED share similar deadlines, they differ in one key aspect: ED is a binding commitment, meaning that if you’re accepted, you must attend that school and withdraw all other applications. On the other hand, EA is non-binding, allowing you to keep your options open as decision letters come in.
Many Hills seniors were eager to tie the bow on the college process, so they applied EA to numerous schools throughout the country. Some of the most popular schools are right here on the east coast, such as Seton Hall University, Penn State University, Florida Atlantic University, and more.
Many students applied to Seton Hall University and heard back surprisingly quickly, because the school tends to send out letters on a rolling basis. Seniors Aiden Cannizzaro, Mackayla Teli, and Luna Han, and others heard back only shortly after applying EA, and were pleased with their acceptances!
Most of the schools that seniors applied to EA are just now starting to send out decision letters. They will be hearing back from colleges between now and the end of January, and are on the edges of their seats as they anticipate the long-awaited news.
Senior Alexia Vukdedaj feels this way, and can’t wait for her EA decisions to come out because she’s “put a lot of work into [her] applications.” She admitted that no matter what her decision letters say, she will feel content because “rejection only means redirection.” Although the next few weeks may bring feelings of both joy and disappointment, the seniors are determined to keep a positive attitude no matter what the outcomes may be.
Meanwhile, some students have already committed to college. Seniors Casey Baratta and Jimmy Veale committed to Manhattan University to continue their athletic careers, and Zach Zardezed recently committed to Boston College after applying ED.
According to Zach, “It’s a relief that most of the pressure is lifted off. I’m going to my dream school and I know that all of my hard work paid off”. Those who have already committed to college are feeling relieved and accomplished as they prepare for the next chapter of their lives.
As some students are nearing the finish line of the college process, others are just getting started as the Regular Decision deadline approaches. Although college decisions may bring a wave of uncertainty, we are confident that the senior class has a bright future ahead of them!
