Early Morning Pride with Chamber Choir
February 9, 2016
An alma mater is an anthem that musically represents a school and what it’s all about, whether it be through a display of pride or a heartfelt message carrying out the importance of respect. Although it may be unknown to most of the student body, our school has an alma mater of its own. The Chamber Choir is trying to make this pleasant song known throughout the building by singing it on the morning announcements several times a month for all to hear. Not only does it bring a great sense of unity and gratification for the students and faculty to indulge in, but it also keeps a melodious tune stuck gracefully in each of our heads.
Almost every day, the girls in Chamber work tremendously hard to warm up physically and vocally, jumping right into various songs to practice for upcoming concerts and performances. Among these songs is the previously mentioned alma mater, which is split into three voice parts: soprano 1, soprano 2, and alto. Each group produces a rich sound and a delightful harmony, especially when blended together as one. Chamber Choir President, Kaitlyn Kerwin, absolutely loves the idea of combining the sound of music with the morning announcements and the fact that “it will be a great advertisement for the choir group as well as a pleasurable way to start off every morning, as tired as everyone may be,” she stated excitedly. The girls will continue rehearsing and completing final preparations until it comes time for the eventual performance, a day that will be announced in the near future.
