The NCAA women’s tournament ended in controversy after two star players were trach-talking throughout the championship game.

The LSU Tigers and the Iowa Hawkeyes faced either other in the NCAA Women’s basketball tournament which brought in record viewership. The star players of LSU and Iowa, Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark, were trash-talking and taunting each other.

Clark started the feud with her John Cena “you can’t see me” wave and when she waved off opposing shooters. Throughout the tournament, Clark was trash-talking and the public did not see any issues with it. It is part of the game and whenever male athletes do it, people look up to them and do not see any issues with it.

In the championship game, the Tigers defeated the Hawkeyes 102-85. Reese continued with the trash-talking when she gestured to her ring figure. This was directed at Clark. However, when Reese did it she was seen as “classless” and had no right to do that to Clark.

When speaking about Angel Reese, Senior Ava Bergman thinks that “It was not a nice thing to do and she shouldn’t have done it. Be happy that you won but don’t shove it in the losing team’s face.”

Following the game, Clark had a lot of nice things to say about Reese and respected the competition. Reese said the opposite and claimed that Clark disrespected her teammate which she would not take lightly. Either way, both players had a great game and they had every right to share some words with each other as that is a part of the game.

The feud continued into the following days when Dr. Jill Biden said she wanted to invite the Iowa team to the White House as well. Biden later apologized for this comment. Reese did not accept her apology and continued to make a name for herself on social media.

Both Clark and Reese will be playing next year. There is the possibility that these two players will face each other again in the tournament next year and it would create an interesting matchup after this year’s behaviors.
