Looking for the most fashionable trends at New York Fashion week
February 16, 2023
Fashion Week has taken over New York marking the return of nearly all-in person shows and kicking off the new year in fashion.
Twice a year, New York Fashion Week showcases fashion designs to buyers, celebrities and the public. It started on February 7 and ended on February 15th. The second show of the year did not disappoint in setting the stage for the future of fashion trends. In addition to the clothes, designers also explored the concept that fashion week can influence the world in more ways than just style.
This week, Heron Preston, Koltson, Cucculelli Shaheen, Ayama Studio, Kallmeyer, Kate Barton, Nayon, and Zimo will be joining. The schedule promotes 74 runway shows from returning brands. These brands include, Altuzarra, Anna Sui, AREA, Batsheva, Brandon Maxwell, Carolina Herrera, Coach, Collina Strada, Dion Lee, Eckhaus Latta, Elena Velez, Gabriela Hearst, Jason Wu Collection, KHAITE, LaQuan Smith, Michael Kors, Palomo Spain, Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler, Puppets & Puppets, Sergio Hudson, Simkhai, Sukeina, Tory Burch, Ulla Johnson, Who Decides War and Willy Chavarria, among others.
Fashion week has some out of the ordinary designs. Piotrek Panszczyk and Beckett Fogg designed a dress out of bananas; Fruits can represent both “abundance, fertility, vitality, and youth” as well as “mortality and the cycle of life, they said on their instagram.” according to CNN. Models crawled, bleated, galloped, and licked their paws as they came down the runway, for Collina Strada’s show “Please Don’t Eat My Friends.”
Prabal Gurung, inspired by meditation and his Nepalese heritage, created a celestial escape in the heart of the building. Models dressed in asymmetrical draping and a variety of outwear walked on a mirror floor beneath star projections. I wanted people to forget for 10 minutes that they are in New York- to feel like they are on a spiritual journey with me to Nepal,” He told CNN.
Michelle Mancero, a mom of two in Pequannock, was a visitor of Fashion Week 2023. Here’s her insight: “I loved seeing the Fall 2023 collections and celebrating the innovation, glamor, and utter coolness of American Fashion throughout modern history. Alice + Olivia denim was my favorite piece. It’s true Americana and a nod to the memories of all the snacks kids loved in the 90s.”
Elizabeth Weiss, a freshman from Wayne Hills has always wanted to go to Fashion week. This is what she says, “Seeing all the fun and unique clothing that people present during fashion week is inspiring and makes me want to go see it in live action.”
Fashion week inspires others with their most trending clothing, accessories and so much more. This year’s fashion week really sets fashion trends for the future.
