Zach Kubofcik was just announced as freshman president. He is taking on the family legacy of being president as his two older brothers were as well.
Zach said it felt good to hear his name on the loud speaker, when they announced he was President. He said he was confident in himself and had a feeling he would win. In Zach’s first month as president, he said, “I’ve done more in three weeks than all of last year.”
He says with football, studying, and two hour meetings twice a week, being president can get overwhelming. However, Zach is taking it like a champ. He said he has had no fears or hesitations as president. He says he’s always wanted to serve his community and his peers as a leader.
The most recent upcoming event, Zach has decided to make Fisherman freshman as the theme for spirit week. He has been working on the posters and logo for the t-shirt. His plans for the school year are to make school more enjoyable, make spirit week best for freshmen, and work with student council to possibly add a Starbucks or Dunkin’ stand in the commons.
When asked how his plans will impact the school, he responded, “My plans will make the school a more fun environment for each student that makes them enjoy coming to school each day.” Zach also does things that students don’t see. He as to attend meetings twice a week as well as other group meetings throughout the week. October is packed with meetings as well as making posters for spirit week. With the help of his vice president, and student council Zach gets things done in a timely manner. He said him and his vice president agree on most matters, and when they don’t they sort out a solution they see eye to eye on.
Zach says that his brothers have had a big impact on him.
He says, “I probably would not be president if my brothers weren’t, because my brothers were my role models and follow what they do and I don’t think I would have had the same passion without them sparking it.” He feels great to take on his family tradition of being president and thinks that his brothers inspired him to be a good leader of the school. He also said, “It feels great knowing that I followed my brothers’ footsteps and hopefully throughout the years, I can fill both of their shoes.”
Zach’s brothers have been an inspiration to him, and have helped him to try his best, he wants to keep on the legacy that his brothers have had at Wayne Hills High School.
