Watch Out For the Least Safe Airlines

By Hannah Lee, Assistant Senior Editor

Many people are planning trips for upcoming dates but are not sure which airlines to take. This past year was definitely not a good year for planes. Many of them crashed and disappeared. However, a recent discovery has been made of the least safe airlines to help travelers explore easily. AirlineRatings.com examined audits, fatality records, operational histories, incident records and operational excellence to prove the grouping of least safe airlines. The following are the least safe airlines (in no sort of order):

1) Batik Air
2) Bluewing Airlines
3) Citilink
4) Kal-Star Aviation
5) Lion Air
6) Sriwijaya Air
7) TransNusa
8) Trigana Air Service
9) Wings Air
10) Xpress Air

These airlines don’t even have 1 star! According to Cnn.com, 265 people were killed in flight incidents last year — the safest year in aviation since 1945.

“Especially after 9/11, the safety of airlines definitely improved. They check for almost everything, even medicine has to be checked. Although we’ve had flaws lately, it still doesn’t prove that airlines are not safe. People just have to be careful when looking for which airline to take off on.” suggested Jenna Tullo, senior.

This means that airlines are growing more cautious and safer, but it will still take time. In the meantime, it would be best to not to travel with the airlines mentioned prior.
