Oscar Nominations Announced Honoring the Films of 2015 (Full List)
January 14, 2016
This morning, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the nominations for the 88th Annual Academy Awards honoring the films of 2015. Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s The Revenant leads with a remarkable 12 nominations. Mad Max: Fury Road shocked many, following close behind with 10 nominations including Best Picture. Due to the complete lack of diversity in the acting categories, #OscarsSoWhite has began trending on twitter.
Some of the biggest nomination surprises/snubs:
Surprises: Bridge of Spies (Best Picture), Inside Out (Original Screenplay), Rachel McAdams (Supporting Actress, Spotlight )
All of the surprises are definitely pleasant, and well-deserved.
Snubs: Michael Keaton (Supporting Actor, Spotlight), Ridley Scott (Director, The Martian), Beasts of No Nation (Everything), Alicia Vikander (Supporting Actress, Ex Machina), Brooklyn (Original Score by Michael Brook).
Leave a comment letting us know what you think! Stay tuned for our predictions as Oscar Sunday nears. Tune in to ABC to catch The Academy Awards on Sunday, February 28 at 7 P.M. EST. Check out the full list of nominations below.
