The Wayne Hills High School starting quarterback for the 2021 season is now moving onto bigger and better things.

Joey Riina has announced his commitment to play D3 football at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. Joey was faced with the tough decision of picking between playing D2 football at Kutztown University or Pace University or D3 football at a wider variety of schools. He decided on Rowan because he believed that would be the best school for him.

When asked for a comment about his commitment to Rowan, Joey said, “Financially Rowan was a better option than most, but the opportunity I have at Rowan is unmatched compared to other schools I was offered.” Joey believes that he will be able to start on the Rowan football team his sophomore year, an opportunity that would be unheard of at most other schools for him. Joey said “My plans are to be the starting QB at Rowan by my sophomore year and graduate from Rowan after 4 years.”

Joey was a great quarterback for Wayne Hills, some of his impressive statistics include 77 completions, 1,028 passing yards and 15 passing touchdowns. Joey also had the most rushing yards on the team at 596 yards and was able to rush for 3 touchdowns. Joey is not only a talented offensive player, but he also played very good defense at the cornerback position. Joey was able to secure 20 solo tackles and 1 interception.

Even though Joey is taking the next step, he will never forget his roots. When asked about his most memorable experience playing football for Wayne Hills High School Joey said “My most memorable moment in my high school career was playing in Missouri”
