Bridgerton Season 2 Review (Non-Spoiler)
April 1, 2022
Bridgerton has officially returned for a new society season. New debutantes, new love interests, new drama, and most importantly — a new diamond. The show’s regency romance is still on full display just as it was in the first season, but the tone is far more restrained. Instead of only the enemies-to-lovers trope, the second season added the slow burn trope, to keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Once again you find yourself immersed in the season making you feel as if you are one of the ladies.
While we may have all binged the first season for the Duke of Hastings aka Simon (Rege Jene Page) his absence is barely noticed. The new man of the season is Viscount Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), he managed to stand out plus make everyone fall in love with his character and quirks. The Viscount is determined to find himself a wife. The only requirement he has set is that she has to be the diamond of the season.
Interwoven throughout the season is the subtleties of Indian culture, a nod to the heritage of the new characters. “I loved the subtle representation of Indian culture without making the plot revolve around racism,” Junior Deanna Gaber said. Silk, bracelets, hair routines, and so much more make this representation so important and so beautiful.
“I think that the storyline about women’s rights added a nice twist to the overall plot of courtship in the 1800s,” history teacher Ms.Logothetis said. Another major theme is women’s rights and standing up for women, Eloise Bridgerton is an outspoken character as we saw in season 1. Now that she is officially out in society she has upped the anty making it known she will not need a husband.
While the middle of the season is a bit frustrating and chaotic; it is enchanting and definitely worth the binge. Some ends may have been left loose it only is the promise of another season. This ending will leave you feeling like you have just been swept off your feet watching another romance bloom.
