Spring Theater Production Annie Featuring Wayne Hills Staff

By Juliana Lee, Senior Editor

Known for her wild curly red hair and song “Tomorrow”, Annie is coming to life on Wayne Hills’ very own stage.

The Hills’ Theatre Production will take its audience through the heartfelt story that is based off the premise of an orphan named Annie who lives with other girls at an orphanage in New York. It is owned by a cruel caretaker, Agatha Hannigan, who only keeps the orphans for the government checks. One day, Annie is saved from the terrible conditions of the orphange when she is picked to spend a week with billionare Oliver Warbucks who is trying to improve his public image. Annie, however, is desperate to find her parents who only left behind half a locket. The play then continues through the crazy journey of the search and develops themes of friendship, family, hope, and justice.

There are many twists and turns, and while the comedic yet sentimental story itself is enough to drag you in, the show will feature a couple of Wayne Hills’ own staff. Among the suprise guests will be Principal Rewick, Mr. Rousseau, Mrs. Caruso, and more.

The play will also feature a handfull of Wayne Hills’ graduating seniors including Dylan Misquita, Aidan Woodside, Valerie Woodside, Jay Ferreira, Ryan Brim, Maya Lozea, Carlo Pistolesi-Inciardi, Frankie Pistolesi-Inciadri, Naomi Freeman, Deepak Sathish, and Chelsea Lewis. Misquita expresses the bittersweetness as he partakes in the last play of his highschool career: “It hasn’t really hit me yet that I’m not going to be in the theatre productions after this year. I am starting to feel pretty sentimental about it though, since theatre has been such a big part of my time in high school.”

The lively production will premiere this Thursday at 7:00 pm, Friday at 7:00 pm, and Saturday at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm.  Presale tickets will be sold outside the commons for $13.00 for students and regular tickets at the door with be $15.00. Be sure to check out the final production of this school year and support the Hills’ Theatre team’s hard work. We wish the team good luck!
