Wayne Hills 2021-2022 Girls Bowling Season
February 15, 2022
The Wayne Hills Girls Bowling Team has had an impressive season this 2021-2022 school year. The team started off strong before the new year; they were undefeated. Once 2022 came, some of the bowlers got COVID-19 and were not able to participate in bowling practices or matches. Being down a few players wasn’t easy for the team, but they held out and stayed undefeated until counties shortly after the new year.
Once all of the bowlers were back and ready to resume participating, the team went to the Girl’s County Championship on January 14th. Unfortunately, the team did not acquire the first place title, but they did place second, which was impressive after having so many players absent for weeks.
Between January 14th and February 5th, the girls continued to put in a good effort and remained undefeated apart from one game against Holy Angels High School. February 5th was the end of the season, which was when the team went to state sectionals. They did not qualify for state championships, though they had a great season overall, ending with a record of 12-1 and 8-0 in their division!
One of the junior bowlers on the team, Erica Cuciti, who has been bowling here at Wayne Hills since her Freshman year, says, “The season wasn’t easy with COVID-19 getting in the way, but overall, it was a really great season for the girls.”
Cuciti has many accomplishments herself, like having won a first place title at the NJ Singles Tournament on December 11th. At the end of the season, she finished with an average of 180.5 and even qualified for State Individual Championships. Cuciti has had an impressive bowling career here at Wayne Hills and the team can’t wait to see how she shows up her senior year!
The Girls Bowling Team had some hardships this season like losing a few players temporarily due to COVID-19, but they pulled through and it is safe to say that they had very a successful 2021-2022 season!
