On Saturday, November 6, police officers responded to a report about trespassing at Asbury Park Highschool, specifically on the school’s stadium. Police got to the school at around 2:30 a.m., where they found an open gate to the football stadium. There, the school’s football coach, Nick Famularo was caught near the entrance of the locker room.

When Famularo stood up, police noticed he was barely clothed. “Holding what appeared to be a jersey covering the lower part of his body,” said the Asbury Park police. Famularo also seemed to be drunk and trespassing with a woman, who was not his girlfriend.

“As a coach personally, I find it very disturbing and highly inappropriate, considering where you work,” said sports coach and Physical Education teacher, Mrs. Caruso.

After the report, Famularo’s girlfriend arrived and took him home. A verbal argument also began between the woman and Famularo’s girlfriend. During further investigation of the locker room, human feces were discovered on one of the rugs and vomit on the football jerseys.

Famularo has been since placed on paid administrative leave as of now. Coach Famularo was also supposed to lead this year’s Annual Thanksgiving Day game against the school’s rival Neptune, unfortunately, he won’t be coaching this year’s game. Two of the assistant coaches and the district’s athletic director, Mark Gerbino, were also suspended on Monday.

“On the surface, everything feels extremely inappropriate, you never know what’s going on with people personally,” said coach and teacher Mr. Basilicato.
