On October 28 details about former One Direction singer, Zayn Malik sprung to the internet with the allegation that Malik struck, now former partner’s mom, Yolanda Hadid.

One year ago Zayn Malik and his partner supermodel Gigi Hadid welcomed their baby girl, Khai Hadid Malik into their family. Keeping things private from the press the couple was able to make a co-parenting plan that worked for them.

Just a week ago things changed when TMZ came out with the details that approximately more than a month ago Malik struck Yolanda Hadid, Gigi Hadid’s mother, after a heated conversation in supermodel Gigi Hadid’s home in Pennsylvania. TMZ stated that “Yolanda barged into the house, without calling beforehand or even knocking at the door on the day Zayn was staying alone to watch Khai”. TMZ also went on about how Yolanda was posting photos of the baby which caused tensions to rise. Malik also allegedly tried to challenge the security guard, that was trying to stop things, into a fight. 

Malik’s response to this was posting a lengthy paragraph on Twitter stating, “I am a very private person and I very much wanted to create a safe space and private space for my daughter to grow up in”. Malik has also denied any physical contact was done to Yolanda Hadid

Many of Zayn’s fans were not too happy about this situation and supported him through different social media platforms such as Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram. 

“I know for a fact she [Yolanda] is making half this stuff up, like if Zayn hit her why would she go to the paparazzi and not the police?”, says one comment on a TikTok.

Other people have gone to the extent of bringing back times where Yolanda Hadid has been caught on camera restricting Gigi Hadid from eating too much to keep her model figure.

Another TikTok comment states, “I 100% understand Zayn for not wanting a grandmother who forced her kids to starve”.

Senior Samantha Flynn commented on this situation by saying, “I do not like Yolanda. There has always been something about her that gives off bad vibes. The whole situation is weird because everyone knows Zayn Malik would not lay a hand on anyone or anything living. So I think there’s a whole lot more we do not know”.

Malik has been charged with 4 counts of harassment but has pled no contest. That means Malik has to pay off a small fine, 360 days total of probation and has been ordered to take anger management courses. Although Malik has gotten off with a minimal charge, he is still facing punishment differently. Various brands that have partnered up with the singer have dropped him, including RCA, the label Malik was signed to.

Malik’s partnership with Gigi Hadid has ended due to the drama, but Gigi Hadid has made it clear that Khai still needs her father, so they have begun to work with a mediator to determine co-parenting arrangements.
