Survivor is Back!

To all the Survivor fans, here is why this season will be the best. To all the non-Survivor fans, here is why you should start watching the show.

Due to the pandemic, CBS’ classic American television series Survivor took a break. But now, host Jeff Probst and his crew of 18 castaways are set into a new era. Survivor is in their forty-first season, ready to bring in new elements of the game. This is a brand new Survivor game and according to Probst, “there is no way to compare previous seasons.”

To further spice up the game, we have seen a few new twists. For example, the “Beware Advantage” is a new element of surprise and strategy. The Beware Advantage is hidden just like an immunity idol. However, in order for the advantage to be put into play, the person who finds it, as well as two other members of the other tribes, must say a specific phrase. Until three members from each of the three tribes successfully say their phrase at the challenge, their vote is omitted at tribal council. If the Beware Advantage is successfully activated, they receive the power that the idol holds. So, do you take the advantage and risk losing your vote? Or do you play it safe and turn down the advantage?

In addition, we have also seen the “Shot in the Dark Dice.” In the first episode of Season 41, we saw each castaway receive a 6-sided die. If at any moment in the game, a player feels at the bottom and needs something that may keep them alive at tribal council, they may invoke their Shot in the Dark Dice. If a player chooses to do this, they will discard their own vote and place their die in an urn. The player will then randomly select one piece of parchment paper in a container; if the paper reads “Safe” then all votes counted against them will be discarded. But, if the paper reads “Unsafe” then all votes against that player remain valid. Without a doubt, this season of Survivor is making a huge comeback. Survivor fans across the world are eager to sit on their couch, every Wednesday at 8pm, anxiously eating popcorn as 18 castaways survive with limited supplies on the beautiful Mamanuca Islands of Fiji.

Senior Becky Jenkins says, “I was really excited to get to watch Survivor again. I missed it while it was off-air, but now that it’s back, I love it even more.” Like the millions of other loyal Survivor fans, Jenkins has watched every season of Survivor with her family.

This season of Survivor is one that fans will never forget. With all the new elements of the game making Survivor a different show, there is no doubt that this season will disappoint fans.
