NHS Donates Supplies to Oasis Haven for Women and Children

The National Honor Society has been tasked with donating toiletries to the Oasis shelter in Paterson for the month of March. Some of the items NHS members brought in included toothbrushes, toothpaste, body wash, shampoo, razors, hand sanitizer, and more. The NHS collected over 1,000 items for these people in need and recently donated them on Wednesday the 7th.

Senior and NHS Treasurer Mannut Singh, who helped sort the toiletries and deliver the supplies to Oasis, said, “The drive was a good way to give back to our community and make an impact in the lives of families during this difficult time.”

The Oasis Haven provides food, clothing, social support, and shelter to all women and children in need. The haven also contains educational and social services to educate and uplift young women and children.

“Whether you like it or not, we’re all part of the communities that we live in. That means what we do affects the people around us,” said NHS advisor Andrew Poalillo. “Do you want to be a person who is too focused on yourself to take notice of people in need? Or a person who is too busy to be bothered to make a positive impact on people’s lives around you? I don’t. That’s why NHS donated to the Oasis- A Haven for Women and Children, to make a positive impact on our community.”

“The toiletry donation was a great opportunity to give back to the community”, said Senior NHS member Julia Galesi.
