Recently on the Wayne Hills Video Morning Announcements, Hills’ alums have made appearances to share their advice towards students during the coronavirus pandemic.

Jackie Califano, a 2004 grad, attended William Paterson University to study communications and Television Production. After graduating, she worked for CNBC, MTV Networks, a small online network (Cheddar TV), and now a pharmaceutical company. She says that “You should always think about the way you are communicating with others before you speak”

Heather Hinkel, a 2010 graduate, advises students to make career connections online, such as on Linkedin prepare you for your future. Hinkel attended Pennsylvania State University and now works for the Beacon Hill Staffing Group, helping companies recruit new employees.

Francessca Ponzini, a 2016 Grad, took Anatomy and Physiology at Hills and grew an interest in the medical field. She attended the Massachusetts college of pharmacy and health sciences with a Bachelor in science. This fall, she will be attending Sidney Kimmel Medical College-Thomas Jefferson University. While in quarantine, she has continued her studies- and has virtually communicated with her patients. “This is a hard time, but it will help to make you stronger, and all students should do one activity a day that they enjoy,” said Ponzini.

Remo Colarusso, a 1979 Grad, focused on Science and Math while attending Wayne Hills He played in the band program: Marching, Concert, and Jazz Bands. Colarusso went to Rutgers University and majored in Chemical and Biomedical engineering “Wayne Hills and Rutgers both prepared me for problem-solving,” said Colarusso He has worked at Johnson and Johnson for the past 30 years running the pharmaceutical chain. Right now, his group is trying to figure out a Coronavirus Vaccine. His advice for students to use the tactics you’ve learned at Hills to help you at work, and through everyday life.

Patrick Gilmore, a 2018 graduate, attends Northeastern University and is studying Finance Strategy. At Wayne Hills, Gilmore played baseball and basketball and was also a member of the Student Council. He hopes to be a basketball coach sometime in the future. Gilmore went abroad in Europe during his first semester of college, which you may know from videos about his journey, often played in the language classes. “You should learn as much information about the world that you can, keep working hard on school work, and remember to have fun,” said Gilmore.
