Netflix Show Outer Banks Becomes an Instant Hit
May 20, 2020
The Netflix original “Outer Banks” has become one of the top ten most popular shows on the streaming platform, reaching the top spot three weeks after it first premiered.
The show follows a 16-year-old orphan named John B, played by Chase Stokes, who embarks on an adventure with his three best friends JJ, Pope, and Kiara played by Rudy Pankow, Jonathan Davis, and Madison Bailey, when they find a shipwreck after a storm. Much of the cast has been launched into instant stardom after the release of the show, with many of them reaching a million followers on Instagram in a matter of days.
Even though it has only been a month since the premiere of “Outer Banks,” the show has quickly become a fan-favorite for many viewers who are already looking for a season 2.
“Ever since we started, we always viewed it as something that was probably like a four-season, maybe five-season show, but definitely four seasons,” said Jonas Pate, the show’s creator, to Entertainment Weekly late last month. “We’ve sort of long-arced it out pretty far. I’m just hoping that we get a chance to actually tell those stories.”
While Netflix has not yet announced if the show will return for a second season, it would be surprising if they did not continue it considering it is one the streaming service’s top programs.
“I was unsure if I was going to like the show when I first started it, but as soon as the first episode was over it was hard to stop watching,” said Wayne Hills Junior Gabrielle Goldman. “The show is really captivating and exciting.”
