White Team Wins SDA for First Time in Four Years

For the first time in four years, the White team took home the overall victory in SDA, breaking Maroon’s three-year winning streak.

After months of hard work, the SDA show was a success. On February 26th, 27th, and 28th, both the Maroon and White teams danced their hearts out.

The show’s theme was “SDA heads back in time,” exploring different eras throughout history. It began with Maroon Tap, with a theme of cavemen, and then went on to White Tap, modeling a 60s diner.

Maroon Aero performed with a theme of the 80s MTV, which ended up placing third. White Aero then performed with the theme of Ancient Japan, which placed second.

The show went on to explore Medieval Times with Maroon Jazz and Ancient Greece with White Jazz.

Finally, the show ended with Maroon Pom, heading through the Wild West, and the White Pom disco, which ended up being the first place winner.

“The SDA show was a success and I’m so proud of how hard both teams worked to put on a great show. I also want to congratulate the white team on their work paying off in a win!” Nicole Collins, SDA president.

White overall Emma Hogan was ecstatic with the outcome of the show.

“I am beyond proud of my entire team for their extremely hard work this season. This entire season has consisted of an immense amount of positivity, love, and encouragement. The nights of the show, the girls performed their hearts out and the result showed that hard work truly does pay off. I’m extremely grateful to be able to leave this program with a win and be able to revitalize the white team. I want my girls to remember that hard work pays off, to always be humble and kind, and that they can achieve anything and everything they set their minds to,” said Hogan.

With great efforts, all the advisors worked extremely hard to make the three nights an excellent environment for both the audience and the dancers.

SDA Tryouts for the 2021 show will begin in June.
