Germany vs Netherlands Evacuation
December 1, 2015
A German soccer stadium and concert arena was evacuated on November 17th due to an uncovered “concrete” bomb threat, two hours before a match between the German and Dutch national soccer teams. Just four days after the terrorist attacks in Paris, this threat serves as a message that terrorist attacks may become more frequent. German police later discovered that no explosives were found, but the game was canceled because of “indications it would not be safe.” Germany’s interior minister, Thomas De Maziere, and other German officials were supposed to attend this game. Everyone was extremely disappointed, but thankful that no one was harmed.
“Since I am also a soccer player, I felt like this was a shame to end the game. I don’t understand why bomb threats and attacks still occur and I probably will never understand it,” said senior Jason Selikoff.
