Wayne Hills FBLA Has Great Success at State Competition

This year the Wayne Hills FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) chapter had a successful run at the FBLA State Leadership Conference held at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City from March 20th to the 22nd.

A significant number of students who attended the conference received awards for their competitive events, including Jacob Park, Riley Flynn, Pulast Thaker, Gabrielle Goldman, Marcel Kolano, Lauren Reiser, and Ethan Goldberg. Students who placed either 4th, 3rd, 2nd, or 1st have the opportunity to compete at nationals in San Antonio, Texas this June.

Business Plan 3rd Place – Caitlyn Murakami and Lindsey Barrata (Qualified for Nationals)
Social Media Campaign 4th Place – Danielle Cohen, Madeline Gilman, Maya Kachroo   (Qualified for Nationals)
Banking and Financial Systems 2nd Place – Kathryn Ortega, Adriana Osella, Amy Jeon  (Qualified for Nationals)
Emerging Business Issues 5th Place – Daryna Yushchenko
Sales Presentation 2nd Place – Marcel Kolano   (Qualified for Nationals)
Broadcast Journalism 3rd Place – Gabrielle Goldman and Lauren Reiser (Qualified for Nationals)
Electronic Career Portfolio 2nd Place – Danny Boguslavsky  (Qualified for Nationals)
Business Ethics 2nd Place – Pulast Thaker, Riley Flynn, Jacob Park   (Qualified for Nationals)
Impromptu Speaking 2nd Place – Ethan Goldberg (Qualified for Nationals)

When asked about placing 3rd place for Broadcast Journalism, sophomore Gabrielle Goldman said “It was so exciting to see all my hard work pay off. It felt so good to stand on the stage and receive the award after spending so much time on our presentation.”

Wayne Hills Student Skyler Sieradzky was also elected as the 2019 State Membership Vice President for FBLA.

While at the conference, members had the opportunity to attend different business seminars/tracks about marketing, finance, sports management, or hospitality. These tracks included interactive leadership training where students from all over the state had to work together to achieve a common goal. Students also were able to participate in a Q&A with successful and accomplished people who work in their respective fields.

The Wayne Hills FBLA chapter as a whole received a number of awards, including the Gold Seal Chapter Award of Merit, Chapter Website Award of Merit, and Outstanding Local Chapter.
