Wayne Hills Boys Basketball Team Captures Jack Stone Shootout Title

The Boys Basketball team recently added some hardware to their resume after posting a dominant 3-0 record in the annual Jack Stone Shootout at St.Mary’s school in Rutherford.

The boys started off their dominant string of performances against Perth Amboy with a strong defensive showing in a 57-26 win.

They then continued that strong defense in a 63-33 win over Indian Hills.

To finish out the 8-team tournament, the boys captured the championship over host school St.Mary’s with a 79-44 win.

Jake Belli was DOMINANT in this tournament and captured the MVP honors.

Belli on his team’s efforts, “I thought we played very well together throughout the 3 games.” He added, “The championship was definitely a good way to leave 2018, but we need to continue to focus as we have many more obstacles to overcome in 2019.”

Nebi Ademi had similar things to say about his team, as he says the tournament win was, “Good for team confidence,” and that the boys, “hope to keep rolling.”

To follow up this tournament win, the boys beat Passaic Valley 61-47. The team will take on rival Wayne Valley Tuesday, January 8th at 7 pm in the Gifford gym.
