October 15, 2015
Hard work, dedication, and an outstanding overall season resulted Coach Keogh and the entire Wayne Hills Girls Tennis with their 13th Passaic County title. With five first year starters, many girls had to adjust to different positions that they were not familiar with. At the 2015 Passaic County Tournament, Wayne hills had champion players in three flights, and overall won the tournament ending in 17 points compared to West Milford’s 13 points and Pompton Lakes’ 12 points.
Alongside the overall county win, WH girls tennis also won three out of five spots. One of the team’s key players, Jess Goldman, a junior at WHHS won the county tournament at the first singles position. Katarina Kolarski won at second singles, while Hima Tallam and Divya Yagamurthy won at second double.Goldman, a former NJ high school athlete of the week recipient and two time varsity starter, explains her excitement for winning the county title. “We worked so hard as a team to get this win,” Godman explains. “None of us could have done it without the help and support of our determined coaches.”
