Anthony Bourdain Commits Suicide

Chef and CNN star Anthony Bourdain was found dead in his hotel room in France on June 8, 2018. The cause of death was suicide by hanging himself with a bathrobe belt. His CNN show “Parts Unknown” travelled the world showcasing great cuisine and brought people closer together. He was 61 years old.
He is also well-known for his best-selling book “Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly”, which described his experiences as a chef, and his other show “No Reservations” on the Travel Channel. People felt that he was not afraid to state his opinions, no matter how harsh, which helped to contribute to his success. He used his influence and voice to advocate for the Me Too movement with his girlfriend Asia Argento, especially condemning the actions of famous chef Mario Batali.
He has won many awards for his work, including several Emmys and a Critics’ Choice Award. However, despite his achievements, he struggled with addiction to heroin.
Bourdain was born in NYC and grew up in Leonia, New Jersey.
His suicide death was the second of the week. On June 5, 2018, Kate Spade was also committed suicide at the age of 55.
