Rapper, music producer, fashion designer, and entrepreneur, Kanye West, returned to Twitter after almost a full year of inactivity to speak his mind on certain game-changing topics that are occurring in today’s society.

When West returned to Twitter on April 26, 2018, fans and followers thought it was simply to announce a new album. It was much more than that. West brought about controversy to Twitter tweeting about several speakers he admires including President Donald J. Trump. “You don’t have to agree with trump but the mob can’t make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone. I don’t agree with everything anyone does. That’s what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought” Kayne West (@kanyewest) stated via Twitter.

As West spoke his mind, other “right-winged” speakers joined in including his wife, Kim Kardashian West. Kardashian West says, “Kanye will never run in the race of popular opinion and we know that and that’s why I love him and respect him and in a few years when someone else says the same exact thing but they aren’t labeled the way he is and you will all praise them! Kanye is years ahead of his time” (@KimKardashian).

Kanye also agreed with Candace Owens and her personal opinions on the Black Lives Matter Movement. Owens states via Twitter, “I truly believe that @realDonaldTrump isn’t just the leader of the free world, but the savior of it as well. May God bless America— the last stand for western civilization.” (@RealCandaceO). West responds to Owens tweet with, “I love the way Candace Owens thinks” via Twitter.

West also made statements toward #LoveIsLove tweeting, “I love when people have their own ideas. You don’t have to be allowed anymore. Just be. Love who you want to love. That’s free thought. I’m not even political. I’m not a democrat or a republican.”

As West made numerous statements via Twitter over the course of the past week, this got the world thinking on these topics. Olivia Cox, 11th Grade Hills, spoke out about her personal opinions on these brought up topics by Kanye West. “Kanye wants to fix the inner cities like Chicago or Detroit and he likes that President Trump is open to having discussions on how to work on these issues arising in these cities,” Olivia Cox says.

Alex Kantzer, an 11th grader from Northern Highlands High School also spoke out his mind on the topic. “Kanye is saying all the things that no one else of his status has the guts to say to the open public and even the world. West is trying to bring about change to those in inner cities. Bringing up topics such as love, mental illness, poverty, etc. Personally, I truly believe in him and support him all the way,” Kantzer stated.

Kanye West has grabbed the attention of the world with his eye-opening statements made via Twitter. West is working hard to bring change to the world and not even for self or status gain.
