Yoko Ono Opens Up About John Lennon’s Bisexuality
November 10, 2015
To shaping rock music with The Beatles to his work as an activist for anti-war, peace, and political causes, John Lennon is one of the most influential people of the 20th century. Tragically, this rare, talented man was shot dead on December 8, 1980, leaving behind his wife, fellow musician, Yoko Ono. As she continues to live on with Lennon’s memory, she recalls information about the interesting life they shared together.
One such instance is when she released a statement regarding Lennon’s sexuality in an interview on October 14, 2015. The 82-year-old artist spoke to The Daily Beast about her interesting take on the situation. She stated, “John and I had a big talk about it, saying, basically all of us must be bisexual. And we were sort of in a situation of thinking that we’re not because of society. So we are hiding the other side of ourselves, which is less acceptable. But I don’t have a strong sexual desire towards another women.”
Lennon had the desire, according to Ono, but was too inhibited. WHHS teacher, Gina Anthony commented, “It always helps the community when somebody that is famous is relative to them.” Hopefully this up-and-coming story will help the LGBT community take another step towards complete and utter freedom from discrimination in the world.
