President Trump’s Checkup Results End a Fierce Debate
January 27, 2018
President Trump had his first medical checkup as president on Friday, January 12, 2018 after his health has been questioned by many. The physician, Dr. Ronny Jackson, said that Trump is in “excellent” health, and that the only thing President Trump should focus on is losing 10 to 15 pounds. People were mostly focused on President Trump’s mental health. After the publication of Michael Wolff’s tell-all book Fire and Fury, critics of President Trump argued that the president could be mentally unfit and removed from office under the 25th Amendment.
President Trump defended himself on Twitter on Saturday, January 6th, stating, “Actually, throughout my life, my two greatest assets have been mentally stability and being, like, really smart.”
His statement spanned three tweets, and he later wrote, “I think that would qualify as not smart, but genius….and a very stable genius at that!”
President Trump’s results back up his claims, as he received a 30/30 on a cognitive health test.
57 Democrats in the House of Representatives introduced legislation that would force the president to undergo a psychological evaluation. The evidence includes President Trump’s statements that are not backed by facts, impulsive behavior, statements that aren’t complete sentences, and occasional slurred speech. However, judging by the results of the checkup, a deeper psychological evaluation probably would not reveal anything new. Others argue that there is still a possibility, however, since not all mental illnesses affect cognitive health. Some people think that the results are not completely true as well, since his reported weight and height doesn’t match up with other people of similar height and weight.
“I disagree with the checkup results because President Trump lies,” says junior Sophia Esheileh.
Many Republicans are appalled by this debate and happy to hear from an actual physician that their president is healthy, rather than Democrats trying to diagnose him out of dissatisfaction with the president.
President Trump’s health isn’t perfect, however. He is just one pound short of being obese and does take some medication, such as Crestor for lowering cholesterol, Soolantra Cream for rosacea and Propecia for hair loss.
Another interesting mystery solved by this check-up was President Trump’s slurred speech. After slurring his speech badly when declaring Jerusalem the capital of Israel, people wondered if it was due to loose dentures. Dr. Ronny Jackson put those rumors to rest when he announced that President Trump does not wear dentures.
Dr. Ronny Jackson declared that Trump is definitely healthy enough to serve his entire term and could even serve another one.
